As the waves ebb away
like a seamless velvet
I try to pull them back
they slip through my fingers
A breeze sieves through my rough hair
like the fingers of a familiar hand
I try to fend it away
it goes through my fingers
A distant melody pierces my eardrums
like a rhythmic spray of pellets
I tried to hold them off
it goes around my fingers
A nearby shadow imitates me
like a persistently annoying mimic
I punch it, I kick it
it imitates all the same
Flustered
I fling a rock into the sea
its a mere crinkle in a wrinkle-free scape
I fling a rock to the moon
it comes back to me
Helpless
I fall on my knees in defeat
back to the cobweb of destiny
Its all fated

Never knew the poet in you! This is really nice. Truly brings out the state of mind on one of those days, when you look back with regrets.
